I think the Rangers/Canucks rumour is more of a response to the Rangers and Oilers possibly making a deal than an actual ongoing discussion. The entire Oilers brass was at MSG last night, and the Oilers and Rangers make better trading partners in my opinion.

Also....the capitals are looking to bolster their defense and are talking to Calgary, a team with an abundance of experienced, some might say well paid, d-men.

Brodie (23 year old first pairing d-man playing the 9th toughest minutes in the league), not getting traded.

.....maybe Chris Butler or Shane O'Brien? But both are bottom pairing players, although Butler can slide into a 4 spot if needed.

Why would the Canucks trade a forward for a d-man when they need more offensive depth and they have been happy with their D??? This makes no sense at all.

haha yea... we don't have an "abundance" of defense...especially with Gio out
Unless you want SOB or Butler.... we could afford to trade one of the two and make room for one of the young prospects to come in and play some minutes

especially since vancouver has a plethora of offensive forwards.

EK should stick with his Eastern rumors, because he has no idea what happens out west. Defence is not an issue at this time with Vancouver; in fact they may want to unload one. The Canucks need more production from forwards not named Sedin and is clearly not in a position to unload a “major offensive player” for D.

Judging by Sather's track record, he probably is looking for roster players, so that takes out picks and prospects.

I think it's more likely Edmonton will be wheeling and dealing over Vancouver, given the dire situation in Edmonton regarding defense and the fact that the entire EDM brass was at MSG. If Del Zotto truly is the target, I'd probably do Eberle for Del Zotto+, but I don't really have a reference point on his value.
